Staff Profiles

Lisa Haverty, Owner and Director of Haverty Hollow, is a former Trinity School teacher.  She started, and then directed, Trinity’s After School Enrichment Program for five years.  She has been running Haverty Hollow preschool playgroups and after school programs for over 25 years. She has run a successful day camp, Frog Hollow Camp, for more than 40 summers and a preschool camp, Haverty Hollow Preschool Camp, for more than 10 summers. Haverty Hollow has been in its current location for more than 20 years.

Lisa holds a B.A. from Eckerd College in Art and Art Education, an M.A. in Elementary Education from the University of Florida, and an Ed.S. in Early Childhood Education from Georgia State University.

John Klopstock, Lead Teacher, is a self-taught origami and paper airplane connoisseur, as well as a creator of many original designs.  John has lived in Atlanta since the first grade.  He was always the family member sought out by the children of siblings to be entertained by paper folding, magic tricks, science experiments and unusual gadgets.  He feels fortunate to have found an outlet for his varied interests and creative impulses at Haverty Hollow.  He came to Haverty Hollow in October 2012. John studied Visual Arts at GSU; he earned his CDA in December 2013.

Heinize Tanuri, Part-Time Teacher, is a native of Brazil, where she was a high school Portuguese teacher as well as a teacher of English to middle schoolers. She holds an advanced specialization degree in Educational Psychology from the University of Candido Mendes, UCAM, in Rio de Janeiro, where she worked with students aged 6 to 14 from the Rocinha favela of Rio for 10 years, planning daily instruction and supporting the students from economically diverse backgrounds one-on-one. In Atlanta, Heinize, (pronounced High-nee-zee), worked at the Hirsch Academy, supporting the lead teacher and occupational therapist for children with special needs aged 7 to 9. Ms. Heinize has been part of the HH staff since 2017.

Rhett Huber, Office Manager, was born and raised in Atlanta, GA.  Her work experience includes public relations, technology project management and Montessori teacher training and classroom assistance.  Her B.A. degree, from Salem College, in Winston-Salem, NC, is in Spanish and English. She completed coursework and comprehensive exams toward an M.F.A. in creative writing at Georgia State University. She came to HH in March 2015.
