Letting Nature Teach Us

Preschool campers exploring their surroundings at Haverty Hills Preschool Camp at Garden Hills.

Nature and Science activities are designed to take advantage of unique settings, so that through the process of exploration and discovery students are led to develop a sense of wonder and respect for the natural environment.  These activities allow us to learn about ourselves through nature and animals.  Campers learn about habitats, camouflage, characteristics of different types of animals, trees, wind, and even the natural environment around their communities.

Frog Hollow campers love to go to Frog Hollow Beach and see the water creatures as well as clean up whatever trash they may find in the creek.
We always try to leave places cleaner than we found them.

You Choose!

Frog Hollow has a “choice- based curriculum” meaning that the campers are offered several activities each period and are able to choose which one they would like to do at that time.  Each activity has campers of all ages participating.  This allows campers to get to know campers that are older, and younger, than they are and to build relationships with those outside their typical peer group.  They watch out for each other, teach each other, learn from each other, play with each other, and just have fun together.

“Carpentry: a time to make things with hammers, nails and wood.”
Always a popular activity for campers who want to make something to take home.
