Letter From Lisa

Dear Afterschool Enrichment and “Drop In” Parents,

Another school year has flown by and we are excited for the last few weeks of school.

I tried to hand out this letter to as many of the Haverty Hollow parents as I could on Thursday and Friday, but wanted to get the word out to the rest of you as soon as possible.

I want everyone to know that I have decided to take a step back from running the day-to-day operations of Haverty Hollow starting August 1. While I will still be the managing owner of Haverty Hollow, I am partnering with Lara Cornett, owner of Kiddos Afterschool Program, to manage the day-to-day operations. I will finish out the 21-22 school year and I will run Frog Hollow Camp this summer.

Lara will ensure that Haverty Hollow still picks up at the same schools, offers flexible enrollment options, has great quality teachers, and maintains an active, creative, and nature centered curriculum as part of the  choice based activities.  Haverty Hollow will continue to run Holiday Camps and Frog Hollow summer camp.  At this time, the Preschool Program will be discontinued as of May 27, 2022.

As many of you know, I have been the owner and director of Haverty Hollow since 1990 and this decision is a very big one for me! I will continue to be the managing owner. I have loved getting to know all the many children and families who have spent time with me inside and outside this beautiful and special place and I will miss being here every day with the kids and animals and staff. Ultimately, some things come “full circle”.  Lara attended Morris Brandon back in the nineties and she and her brother came to Haverty Hollow after school every day as well as Frog Hollow Camp every summer!  She also trained as a Junior Counselor and Counselor at camp. She knows very well what a special place Haverty Hollow is!

I have great confidence in Lara Cornett. Lara has owned Kiddos for 11 years, maintained a great reputation and runs the after school programs at E. Rivers, Garden Hills, and Atlanta Classical Academy. At this time she plans to bring one of her Directors, Isabel Quillin, with her to direct Haverty Hollow. Isabel has worked with Lara since she started Kiddos and most recently has directed the Garden Hills program. I plan to have them come by to meet families one day next month.

Next year’s ONLINE! registration will be updated by next week!

Thank you for your support and I look forward to a great end of school year and  summer camp. I  promise to be “in and out” next semester to check on all the kids and families!

Warm regards!

Lisa Haverty
